PDF knitting pattern IRON SKY
PDF knitting pattern IRON SKY
*Language*: ENGLISH
*Skill level*: needs a bit of experience
*Techniques used*: Stranded Knitting worked flat, slipped stitches. All used techniques are well explained in the pattern with pictures and links to tutorials.
The center piece of the shawl is worked flat and in rows with the Stranded Knitting Technique. The pattern includes a full color chart for that. Please print these pages with a good printer as the color changes are very subtle sometimes. A poor print might make it hard to work from the chart.
Stitches are picked up on both sides of the shawl and are then worked with short rows to shape the wings. You only use one color per row, some Garter Stitch and slipped stitches to create the colorful fabric. This part is easy and very much fun to knit as well.
The final part is the seam and it is knit with the Stranded Technique again. These rows are very long, so you might need a bit more time for them then you have anticipated. But it frames the beauty and hard work you have given into your artwork so far.
FINISHED SIZE
Measurement of shawl shown on picture: total wingspan (76.75”) 195 cm and and (41.25”) 105 cm sideways after blocking.
YARN
The whole shawl is knit with 'Holst supersorft 100 % Uld' (575 m/627 yds per 100 g/3.5 oz); 2 ply
A detailed list of all 13 colors is part of the pattern.
NEEDLES
US 3 (3, 25 mm) set of doubled pointed interchangeable circular needles and three cables 39” (100 cm) that can be connected. I advice the Hyia Hyia needles. The rows of the seam are very long so you might as well use more than one needle.
GAUGE
